Varuthini Ekadashi Vrat Katha

Varuthini Ekadashi Vrat Mahatmya:-

Dharmaraja Yudhishthira said: O Lord! I greet you You have explained in detail about the Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month i.e. Kamada Ekadashi. Now please, what is the name of Vaishakh Krishna Ekadashi? And what is its method and significance?

Lord Krishna said: O Rajeshwar! Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Vaishakh month is known as Varuthini Ekadashi. It is the bestower of good fortune, destroyer of all sins and ultimately gives salvation. I tell you the great story.

Varuthini Ekadashi Vrat Katha:

In ancient times, a king named Mandhata ruled on the banks of river Narmada. He was very charitable and ascetic. One day, when he was doing penance in the forest, a wild bear came from where and started chewing on the king's feet. The king remained absorbed in his penance as before. After sometime the bear, chewing on his feet, dragged the king to the nearby forest.

The king was very nervous, but without anger and violence, he prayed to Lord Vishnu, in a compassionate way, he called out to Lord Vishnu. Hearing his call, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu appeared and killed the bear with the wheel.

The bear had already eaten the king's leg. This made the king very sad. Seeing them sad, Lord Vishnu said: O Vatsa! Don't grieve You go to Mathura and worship my Varaha avatar idol by keeping a fast on Varuthini Ekadashi. With its effect, you will again become those with strong limbs. This bear has bitten you, it was the crime of your previous birth.

Following the orders of the Lord, King Mandhata went to Mathura and fasted for Varuthini Ekadashi with reverence. Due to this effect, the king soon again became handsome and full of limbs. Due to the effect of this Ekadashi, King Mandhata went to heaven.

Anyone who is suffering from fear should remember Lord Vishnu by observing a fast on Varuthini Ekadashi. By observing this fast, all sins are destroyed and salvation is attained.
