Kamada Ekadashi Vrat Story

 Kamada Ekadashi Vrat Mahatmya :-

Dharmaraja Yudhishthira started saying: O Lord! I respect you very much. You have explained in detail about Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month i.e. Papmochani Ekadashi. Now please what is the name of Chaitra Shukla Ekadashi? And what is its method and significance?

Lord Krishna said: O Dharmaraja! Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month is known as Kamada Ekadashi. Once upon a time, this question was asked by King Dileep to Guru Vashishtji and I am telling you the solution which he told.

Kamada Ekadashi Vrat Story: -

In ancient times there was a city named Bhogipur. A king named Pundarika ruled there with many opulence. Many Apsaras, Kinnars and Gandharvas used to live in Bhogipur city. In one of them, two men and women named Lalita and Lalit lived in a very luxurious house. There was great affection between them, even when they parted, both used to get upset.

At one time, Lalit was singing along with other Gandharvas in the meeting of Pundarika. While singing, he got the attention of his beloved Lalita and due to her distortion, the nature of the song got spoiled. Knowing the feelings of Lalit's mind, a serpent named Karkot told the king the reason for the dissolution of his post. Then Pundarika said angrily that you are remembering your woman singing in front of me. Therefore, you become a cannibalistic demon and enjoy the fruits of your actions.

Due to the curse of Pundarika, Lalit became a giant monster at that very moment. His face was very fierce, his eyes lit up like the sun and the moon and fire started coming out of his mouth. His nose became huge like a mountain cave and his neck started looking like a mountain. The hair on the head began to look like trees standing on the mountains and the arms became very long. Altogether his body was spread over eight yojanas. Thus becoming a demon, he started suffering in many ways.

When his beloved Lalita came to know about this story, she felt very sorry and started thinking of her husband's salvation. The demon started living in the dense forests after suffering many kinds of severe misery. His wife followed him and kept on moaning.

Once Lalita wandered after her husband and reached the Vindhyachal mountain, where was the ashram of Shringi Rishi. Lalita soon went to Shringi Rishi's ashram and went there and started praying graciously.

Seeing him Shringi Rishi said: Oh good! Who are you and why have you come here?Lalita

quote: O Mune! My name is Lalita. My husband has become a giant demon by the curse of King Pundarika. I am very sorry for this. Tell me any way to save him.

Sringi Rishi said: O Gandharva girl! Now Chaitra Shukla Ekadashi is about to come, whose name is Kamada Ekadashi. By observing this fast, all the works of a human being are proved. If you fast on Kamada Ekadashi and give the fruits of his virtue to your husband, then he will soon be freed from the demon's vagina and the king's curse will also surely be pacified.

Hearing such words of the sage, Lalita fasted on the arrival of Chaitra Shukla Ekadashi and on Dwadashi, giving the fruits of her fast to her husband in front of the Brahmins, started praying to the Lord in this way: O Lord! The fruits of this fast which I have done should be received by my husband, so that he can be freed from the demon's vagina.

After giving the result of Ekadashi, her husband got free from the demon vagina and attained his old form. Then, wearing many beautiful clothes and ornaments, started walking with Lalita. After that both of them sat in the plane and went to heaven.

The sage Vashistha started saying: O king! By observing this fast methodically, all sins are destroyed and the vagina of demons etc. is also released. There is no other fast like this in the world. By reading or listening to its story, the fruit of the Vajapeya Yagya is obtained.
