Yudhishthira started saying that Oh Lord! What is the name of Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi? Please tell its method and its significance. Then Lord Krishna started saying that I ask you to listen carefully to the greatness of Uttam Vamana Ekadashi, which gives this virtue, heaven and salvation and destroys all sins.

This Ekadashi is also called Jayanti Ekadashi. By performing this yajna, one gets the fruit of Vajapeya Yagya. There is no better way than this to destroy the sins of sinners. The person who worships Me (the form of Vamana) on this Ekadashi day, then all the three worlds are worshiped. Therefore, people who wish for salvation must observe this fast.

Those who worship the Lord Kamalnayan with a lotus, they definitely go near the Lord. One who fasted and worshiped on Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi, he worshiped the three worlds including Brahma, Vishnu. Therefore, one must observe the fast of Harivasar ie Ekadashi. On this day God takes his turn, hence it is also called Parivartini Ekadashi.

Hearing the words of God, Yudhishthira said that Lord! I am in doubt that how do you sleep and turn around and how did you perform pastimes by keeping King Bali tied and in the form of Vamana? What is the method of fasting for Chaturmas and what is the duty of a human being when you sleep. So you tell me in detail.

Shri Krishna started saying that O Rajan! Now listen to the story that destroys all sins. In Tretayuga there was a demon named Bali. He was my great devotee. He used to worship me with various types of Veda hymns and regularly used to organize worship of Brahmins and yagyas, but due to hatred towards Indra, he conquered Indraloka and all the gods.

For this reason all the deities gathered together and went to God after thinking. Indradik Devas, including Brihaspati, went near the Lord and bowed down and started worshiping and praising the Lord through Veda mantras. So I took the fifth incarnation by taking the form of Vamana and then won King Bali with great splendour.

Hearing so much talk, King Yudhishthira said that O Janardan! How did you conquer that Mahabali demon by taking the form of Vamana? 

Shri Krishna started saying - I (Vaman in the form of Brahmachari) while requesting three steps of land from Bali said - this is like three worlds to me and you must give it to me, O king.

King Bali, considering it as a frivolous request, gave me the resolution of three steps of land and I increased my Trivikram form to the extent that I position in Bhuloka, thigh in Bhuvarloka, waist in heaven, stomach in Mahaloka, heart in Janalloka, throat in Yamaloka. After establishing the face in Satyalok, set the head on it.

Sun, Moon etc. all the planets, Yoga, Nakshatras, Indradik deities and all other serpents, etc., prayed to the Vedas in different ways. Then I held King Bali's hand and said, O king! The earth was completed from one post, the heavenly world was completed from the other. Where should I put the third step now?

Then Bali bowed his head and I put my foot on his head, so that my devotee went to Hades. Then seeing his request and humility, I said, O Bali! I will always be near you. My idol was installed at Bali's ashram on the day of Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi after asking Virochana son Bali. 

Similarly, the second happened on the back of Sheshnag in Kshirsagar. Hey Rajan! On this Ekadashi, the Lord takes his turn while sleeping, so Lord Vishnu, the lord of the three worlds, should be worshiped on that day. It is advisable to donate copper, silver, rice and curd on this day. Jagran must be done at night.

Those who observe fast on this Ekadashi lawfully, they go to heaven, free from all sins, they are illuminated like the moon and get fame. Those who read or listen to this story, the destroyers of sins, they get the result of a thousand Ashwamedha sacrifices.
