Kamika Ekadashi Story:-

Kunti's son Dharmaraja Yudhishthira started saying that O Lord, I have heard the greatness of Ashadh Shukla Devshayani Ekadashi and Chaturmasya very well. Now please tell me what is the name of Shravan Krishna Ekadashi.

Lord Krishna started saying that O Yudhishthira! The story of this Ekadashi was once told by Lord Brahma himself to Lord Narada, that is what I tell you. Naradji had asked Brahmaji that O father! I want to hear the story of Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Shravan month, what is its name? What is the method and what is its significance, so please tell me.

Hearing these words of Naradji, Brahma said - O Narada! You have asked a very beautiful question for the benefit of the worlds. The name of Krishna Ekadashi of Shravan month is Kamika. By listening to him one gets the fruits of the Vajapeya Yagya. On this day, conch, chakra, mace-bearing Vishnu is worshipped, whose names are Sridhar, Hari, Vishnu, Madhava, Madhusudan. Listen to the fruit that comes from worshiping him.

The fruit that one gets from bathing in the Ganges, Kashi, Naimisharanya and Pushkar is obtained by worshiping Lord Vishnu. The fruit which is not attained by bathing in Kurukshetra and Kashi on solar and lunar eclipses, by donating the earth along with the ocean, forest, by bathing in the Godavari and Gandaki river in Jupiter in Leo, is obtained by worshiping Lord Vishnu.

Those who worship God in Shravan, all the deities, Gandharvas and Surya etc. are worshiped by them. Therefore, people who are afraid of sins should observe fast on Kamika Ekadashi and worship Lord Vishnu. The fasting of this Ekadashi and worship of Lord Vishnu is extremely necessary for the human beings trapped in the mud of sin and immersed in the ocean of the world. There is no better way to get rid of sins than this.

O Narada! The Lord himself has said that by fasting Kamika the soul does not attain Kuyoni. Those who offer Tulsi Dal to Lord Vishnu on this Ekadashi with devotion, they stay away from all the sins of this world. Lord Vishnu is not so pleased with gems, pearls, gems and ornaments etc. as with Tulsi Dal.

The result of worshiping Tulsi Dal is equal to donating four weights of silver and one weight of gold. O Narada! I always salute the dearest Tulsi of the Lord myself. Irrigation of Tulsi plant destroys all human sufferings. All sins are destroyed by mere sight and a person becomes pure by touch.

Even Chitragupta cannot say the significance of lamp donation and the fruit of awakening on the night of Kamika Ekadashi. Those who light a lamp in the temple of God on the night of this Ekadashi, their ancestors drink nectar in heaven and those who light a lamp of ghee or oil, they go to the Sun world after being illuminated by a hundred crore lamps.

Brahmaji says that O Narada! One should observe this Kamika Ekadashi fast, which destroys the sins of Brahmahatya and foeticide, etc. A person who listens and reads the significance of the fast of Kamika Ekadashi with reverence goes to Vishnu Lok, freed from all sins.
