Rama Ekadashi fasting story

 Rama Ekadashi fasting story

Dharmaraj Yudhishthira started saying that Oh Lord! What is the name of Kartik Krishna Ekadashi? What is its method? What is the result of doing this? So please tell me in detail. Lord Krishna said that the name of Ekadashi of Kartik Krishna Paksha is Rama. It is the destroyer of great sins. Its importance I say to you, listen carefully.

Hey Rajan! In ancient times there was a king named Muchukunda. He was friends with Indra and also Yama, Kubera, Varuna and Vibhishana were his friends. This king was very devout, Vishnu devotee and ruled with justice. That king had a daughter, whose name was Chandrabhaga. That girl was married to Shobhan, son of Chandrasen. Once he came to Shobhan's in-laws' house. Punyadayini Ekadashi (Rama) was also going to come soon in those days.

When the day of fasting came near, great thought arose in Chandrabhaga's mind that my husband is very weak and my father's orders are very strict. On the tenth day, the king made an announcement in the whole kingdom by playing the drum that food should not be eaten on Ekadashi. On hearing the announcement of the drum, Shobhan was very worried and said to his wife that oh dear! What should I do now, I will not be able to bear hunger in any way. Tell me such a way by which my life can be saved, otherwise my life will surely go away.

Chandrabhaga started saying that O lord! Under my father's rule, no one eats food on Ekadashi. Even an elephant, a horse, a camel, a cat, a cow, etc. cannot take grass, food, water, etc., then what to say about human beings. If you want to eat, then go to some other place, because if you want to stay here then you must fast. Hearing this, Shobhan started saying that oh dear! I will definitely fast, whatever will happen in fate, it will be seen.

Thinking in this way, Shobhan kept a fast and he started suffering from hunger and thirst. When Surya Narayan had set and the time of awakening came in the night, which was very joyous to Vaishnavas, but very sad for Shobhan. By the morning, Shobhan's life was gone. Then the king got her cremated with scented wood. But Chandrabhaga did not burn her body with the permission of her father and after the funeral ceremony of Shobhan started living in her father's house.

Due to the influence of Rama Ekadashi, Shobhan got a beautiful Devpur on Mandarachal mountain, full of wealth and grain and free from enemies. He was adorned with many types of crystal gems built on pillars of very beautiful gems and Vaiduryamani studded gold, in a building adorned with valuable ornaments and chhatras and chanwars, mounted on a throne with Gandharvas and Apsaras, as if another Indra was seated.

Once, a Brahmin named Som Sharma, who lived in Muchukund town, went out on a pilgrimage and went there and after recognizing Shobhan that it was the king's Jamai Shobhan, went near him. Knowing him, Shobhan also got up from his seat and came to him and after bowing down, asked a skillful question. The Brahmin said that King Muchukunda and your wife are well off. The city is also skilled in every way, but O king! We are surprised. Tell your story that how did you get such a beautiful city that you have never seen or heard of.

Then Shobhan said that I got this city by fasting on Rama Ekadashi of Kartik Krishna, but it is unstable. Take such measures to make it stable. The brahmin started saying that O king! Tell me why it is not stable and how it can be stable, then I will definitely take that remedy. Don't take my words as false. Shobhan said that I have done this fast without faith. So it's all unstable. If you tell all these accounts to Muchukunda's daughter Chandrabhaga, it may be stable.

Hearing this, the superior Brahmin returned to his city and narrated all the stories to Chandrabhaga. Hearing the words of the Brahmin, Chandrabhaga started telling the Brahmin with great pleasure that O Brahmin! You have seen all these things directly or are talking about dreams. The brahmin started saying that O daughter! I have seen your husband firsthand in Mahavan. At the same time, he has seen his city like the city of the gods so that there is no victory from anyone. He also said that it is not stable. The way he can remain stable, measures should be taken.

Chandrabhaga started saying O Vipra! You take me there, I have a strong longing for the darshan of the husband. I will make that city stable by the virtue I have done. You should do such a thing by which they coincide with us because it is a great virtue to merge the disconnected. Hearing this, Som Sharma took Chandrabhaga and went to the ashram of Rishi Vamdev near Mandarachal mountain. Vamdevji, after listening to the whole thing, anointed Chandrabhaga with the recitation of Veda mantras. Then under the influence of the sage's mantra and the fasting of Ekadashi, Chandrabhaga's body became divine and she attained divine speed.

After this she went near her husband with great happiness. Shobhan was overjoyed to see his beloved wife coming. And called him and made him sit on his left side. Chandrabhaga started saying that O Prannath! You accept my virtue. Since I was eight years old at my father's house, I have been observing the Ekadashi fast with devotion. With the majesty of this virtue, this city of yours will become stable and will remain full of all karma till the end of the Holocaust. Thus Chandrabhaga, adorned with divine ornaments and clothes, started living happily with her husband.

Hey Rajan! I have said this the greatness of Rama Ekadashi, all the sins of those who observe this fast, their Brahma killings are destroyed. The Ekadashis of both Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha are same, there is no discrimination in them. Both give similar results. Those who read or listen to this greatness, they get rid of all sins and attain Vishnuloka.

It's good
